What We Collect
- App Usage Data — The App reads foreground usage time for apps you choose to track (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) using Android's UsageStatsManager API. We only read the total foreground duration for your selected apps. We do not read usage data for any other apps on your device, and we do not access the content of any app.
- Account Information — When you first open the App, an anonymous account is created via Firebase Authentication. If you choose to upgrade your account with an email address or Google sign-in, we store the associated email and display name. You may change your display name at any time in Settings.
- Friend and Social Data — If you use the friend feature, we store your display name, friend code, daily usage status (within limit, approaching limit, over limit, or tracking paused), streak count, and optionally your exact usage minutes. This data is shared only with users you have mutually accepted as friends. You control whether exact minutes are visible to friends via the "Share exact minutes" toggle in Settings.
- Daily Results and Streak Data — Your daily usage results (usage minutes, limit, pass/fail status) and streak count are stored locally on your device using a local database. Daily status summaries are synced to our cloud database (Firebase Firestore) for the friend feature only.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your location
- We do not read your contacts, messages, photos, or files
- We do not track your browsing history
- We do not collect device identifiers for advertising
- We do not sell or share your data with third-party advertisers
- We do not access the content of any app you track — only foreground time
How We Use Your Data
- To display your usage statistics and streak on your dashboard
- To share your daily status with friends you have mutually accepted
- To send you notifications when you approach or exceed your daily limit
- To maintain your streak history
Where Your Data Is Stored
Local data (usage history, settings, streak) is stored on your device. Cloud data (user profile, friend connections, daily status) is stored in Firebase Firestore with offline persistence enabled. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).
Data Retention
Your local data remains on your device until you uninstall the App or clear its data. Cloud data (Firestore) is retained as long as your account exists. You may delete your account and associated cloud data by contacting us at the email below.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase Authentication (account management)
- Firebase Firestore (cloud data storage for friend features)
- Android UsageStatsManager (system API for app usage data)
These services are operated by Google and are subject to Google's privacy policy.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Permissions
- Usage Access — Required to read foreground app usage time. This is the core functionality of the App. Without it, tracking is disabled.
- Notifications — Optional. Used to alert you when approaching or exceeding your daily limit.
- Internet — Required for the friend feature and account sync.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
